CMAP allows you to import rows and timeline items from another map into your own. This is a great way to use a favorite unit or entire map created by a fellow educator.
Click the Share / Import & Export tab in your CMAP.
Click the Importing option.
On the Import screen, click Browse and locate and open the .cmap file you would like to import.
When importing you have two main options: Overwrite or Merge.
When you select Overwrite, all of the existing rows and timeline items on your map will be deleted and replaced with the rows and items from the imported map.
When you select Merge, the existing rows and timeline items on your CMAP will be grayed out and the ones from the imported map will be colored.
On the right, the Merge Contents dialog will be displayed in the Information Viewer.
Select the best Position option for your needs.
- The Start imported contents at session option truly merges the imported content with your existing items. Type a session in the box provided. All of your items will remain in the same sessions and the new items will be added starting with the session that you select.
- The Prepend option will paste every session of the imported map BEFORE your current map. That means if the imported map has 180 sessions, your existing items will be shifted to start at session 181.
- The Append option will leave your existing sessions in place and add all of the imported sessions AFTER your last session. If your CMAP’s last session is 180, the imported sessions will start at session 181.
- When the prepend and append options are used, the total number of sessions on your CMAP will increase, but your number of sessions linked by CSchedule to your district calendar will not change. If you scroll to session 180, you’ll see that calendar dates are no longer synced starting with session 180.
After selecting the position of the imported sessions, select the Row Mapping options for each row on the imported map using the drop downs. You can either create a new row on your map or merge the items in an existing row.
Click Complete Merge to see the results of the merge.
If you are satisfied with the result, click Save in the upper right before closing the map.
